Short answer
In Australia, Facebook account recovery follows Facebook’s own routes: Disagree with decision on a suspension notice within the time shown, or facebook.com/hacked for a hijacked account. Report scams locally too. Unbanz helps you submit a clean appeal through Meta’s official process; Meta makes the final decision.
Official steps that come first
- If you see a suspended or disabled notice, log in and follow the prompts to disagree with the decision. Facebook gives most suspended accounts 180 days, but trust the date on your own screen.
- If you cannot log in because details were changed, go to facebook.com/hacked on a device and browser you have used before.
- You can also search for your account at facebook.com/login/identify and choose the option for no longer having access to your email or phone.
- Check your inbox and spam for a Facebook email about the change and use the undo link if there is one.
- If Facebook asks for ID or a video selfie, use your real details and follow the instructions exactly. Then wait for the reply instead of filing repeat appeals.
Australian details worth knowing
- Marketplace and group scams: a common way in is a buyer or “courier” message with a link to a fake Facebook login. Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au) lists current scam types and takes reports, and ReportCyber at cyber.gov.au handles cybercrime.
- If a friend’s account messages you for money: call them on a number you already have before sending anything, and tell them to start recovery.
- Pages and ads: if your profile is disabled, a Page where you are the only admin can be lost and linked ad accounts can stop. Ask someone you trust to confirm they have full control of the Page. For ad account problems see ad accounts disabled in Australia.
- Your +61 number: write 04xx as +61 4xx without the zero, and get a lost SIM replaced through your provider before you start.
- Harassment and intimate images: the eSafety Commissioner (esafety.gov.au) can act on image-based abuse and serious cyberbullying. IDCARE (idcare.org) gives free support after an account or identity compromise.
If the notice is about your age
Facebook is one of the platforms that must take reasonable steps to keep Australians under 16 off accounts since 10 December 2025. Adults who lose access by mistake are offered an age check through Yoti, with a video selfie or government ID. Use it from the notice itself. It is a separate step from an appeal about a rule violation, so tell us which notice you are looking at.
What not to do
- Don’t pay or message anyone from a DM who says they can “open” your account.
- Don’t share your password or login codes with anyone, including us.
- Don’t create new accounts to plead with Facebook, and don’t send the same appeal over and over.
How Unbanz helps
We work out whether the account is disabled, hacked or both, gather the notice, the old email and phone and the dates, and handle the appeal through Meta’s official process. Main page: Facebook account recovery.
How it works with Unbanz
- Message us on WhatsApp or email with the Facebook name or profile link, the email or phone on the account, and a screenshot of the notice.
- We tell you honestly whether we can help and what it would cost.
- We prepare everything and handle the appeal through the platform’s official process.
- We keep you posted until there’s a result. Meta makes the final decision.
Who this is for
- Australian Page owners, Marketplace sellers, community group admins and agencies who run work through Facebook.
- People who lost a profile after a phishing link or a fake buyer message.
- Adults caught by the under-16 checks.
- Anyone whose first appeal was rejected without an explanation.
Staying safe
Nobody needs your password or login codes to help you. Not us, not anyone. If someone in your DMs offers to fix it for you, asks you to log in through their link, or claims to have a special way in, walk away. Unbanz never asks for logins and doesn’t claim any special access. We use the same official routes that are open to you, we just know them well and do the legwork properly.
No passwords or login codes. We handle the process end to end; Meta makes the final decision.
