Short answer
Instagram account recovery in Japan uses Instagram’s own routes: request a review on a disabled notice, or use instagram.com/hacked if someone took over the account. Japan also has a separate deletion request route for harmful posts. Unbanz helps you appeal through Meta’s official process; Meta makes the final decision.
Official steps that come first
- If a disabled or suspended notice appears, tap it and request a review. Complete every screen, including any selfie check.
- If the email, number or password was changed, go to instagram.com/hacked on a phone or computer you have used before.
- Search your inbox and spam for an Instagram email about the change. Its undo link is time limited.
- Check that the Japanese number on the account still works. Text codes go to that SMS number.
- Send one complete appeal and then wait for the reply to the account’s email.
Checks that matter in Japan
- Your +81 number: a Japanese mobile written 090-1234-5678 is entered as +81 90 1234 5678, with the leading zero dropped. Docomo, au, SoftBank and Rakuten Mobile replace a lost SIM after you identify yourself.
- Police advice: the prefectural police run cybercrime consultation desks, and #9110 is the national police consultation line. In an emergency call 110. Tell your bank immediately if money moved.
- Phishing bait: emails and SMS messages that claim to be from Instagram or Meta about a copyright or policy violation are a common way in. Do not sign in from a link in a message.
- Harmful or defamatory posts: under the Information Distribution Platform Act, Meta is required to run a deletion request channel for rights-violating content and to tell the requester its decision within seven days. That decision is about a post, not about restoring your account, and it does not mean the post will be removed.
- Japanese notices: the options are the same in Japanese and English. Screenshot the notice as it appears. We work over WhatsApp or email in English.
What not to do
- Don’t pay or message anyone from a DM who says they can “open” your account.
- Don’t share your password or login codes with anyone, including us.
- Don’t create new accounts to plead with Instagram, and don’t send the same appeal over and over.
How Unbanz helps
We work out whether the account is disabled, hacked or both, gather the notice, the old email and phone and the dates, and handle the appeal through Meta’s official process. Main page: Instagram account recovery.
How it works with Unbanz
- Message us on WhatsApp or email with the Instagram name or profile link, the email or phone on the account, and a screenshot of the notice.
- We tell you honestly whether we can help and what it would cost.
- We prepare everything and handle the appeal through the platform’s official process.
- We keep you posted until there’s a result. Meta makes the final decision.
Who this is for
- Japan-based creators, shops, cafes, fashion and beauty brands, and agencies who run their work through Instagram.
- Foreign residents in Japan who need an English-speaking route.
- People hacked through a fake Instagram or Meta message.
- Anyone who already appealed once and got nowhere.
Staying safe
Nobody needs your password or login codes to help you. Not us, not anyone. If someone in your DMs offers to fix it for you, asks you to log in through their link, or claims to have a special way in, walk away. Unbanz never asks for logins and doesn’t claim any special access. We use the same official routes that are open to you, we just know them well and do the legwork properly.
No passwords or login codes. We handle the process end to end; Meta makes the final decision.
