Short answer
Instagram account recovery in Sweden starts with Instagram’s own routes: request a review on a disabled notice, or use instagram.com/hacked if someone took over the account. Official steps that come first
- If a disabled or suspended notice appears, tap it and request a review. Complete each screen, including any selfie check.
- If the email, number or password changed, go to instagram.com/hacked on a phone or computer you have used before.
- Search your inbox and spam for an Instagram email about the change and use the undo link while it works.
- Check that the Swedish number on the account is still active so codes can reach you.
- Send one complete appeal and wait for the reply to the account’s email.
Checks that matter in Sweden
- Your +46 number: a Swedish mobile written 070-123 45 67 is entered as +46 70 123 45 67, without the zero. Telia, Tele2, Telenor and Tre issue a replacement SIM after you identify yourself.
- Reporting fraud: use the police non-emergency number 114 14 or report online at polisen.se. In an emergency call 112. Tell your bank straight away if money moved, and do not approve any BankID request you did not start.
- Swish and BankID bait: a message that says your Instagram will be closed unless you confirm with BankID, or a hijacked friend who asks for a Swish payment, are the usual patterns.
- Victim support: Brottsofferjouren offers free support to people who have been victims of crime, including online threats and fraud.
- Language: notices may appear in Swedish or English with the same options. We work over WhatsApp or email in English.
EU appeal rights
Under the EU Digital Services Act, Instagram must give users in the EU an internal complaint route and tell them about out-of-court options. Appeals Centre Europe is one certified body that accepts disputes about some content and account decisions from users in the EU. It does not cover hacked accounts or decisions based on how an account behaved, and it does not replace the in-app appeal, so use Instagram’s own review first.
What not to do
- Don’t pay or message anyone from a DM who says they can “open” your account.
- Don’t share your password or login codes with anyone, including us.
- Don’t create new accounts to plead with Instagram, and don’t send the same appeal over and over.
