Short answer
Instagram account recovery in the US starts with Instagram’s own tools: the in-app review for disabled accounts and instagram.com/hacked for hijacked ones. If those stall, Unbanz helps you submit a clean appeal through Meta’s official process. Meta makes the final decision, and your password stays with you.
Official steps that come first
- Search your inbox and spam for an email from Instagram about a changed email address or password. If it has a link to undo the change, use it straight away.
- Open instagram.com/hacked on a phone or computer you have logged in from before, on your usual network.
- Follow the prompts. Instagram may send a code to the email or number on the account, or ask for a video selfie where you turn your head in different directions.
- If you only see a disabled notice, tap through it and request a review. Do this once and complete every step it asks for.
- Watch the email on the account. Replies from Instagram arrive there, so check spam too.
Checks that matter in the US
- Your phone number: text codes go to your US number. If you lost the SIM or stopped getting texts, sort that with your carrier first, and ask about port-out protection. SIM swapping is a known way accounts get hijacked.
- Your deadline: a disabled notice can carry a date after which the appeal option goes away. Read the date on your own notice and act before it.
- Business accounts: have your business name, website and state registration details to hand if Meta asks you to show the business is real.
- Money or blackmail involved: report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, and at ic3.gov (the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center) if it’s serious. That’s separate from getting the account back.
Not sure which problem you have? Disabled or suspended, hacked and hacked, then disabled each have their own steps.
What not to do
- Don’t pay or message anyone from a DM who says they can “open” your account.
- Don’t share your password or login codes with anyone, including us.
- Don’t create new accounts to plead with Instagram, and don’t send the same appeal over and over.
How Unbanz helps
We work out whether the account is disabled, hacked or both, gather the notice, the old email and phone and the dates, and handle the appeal through Meta’s official process. Main page: Instagram account recovery.
How it works with Unbanz
- Message us on WhatsApp or email with the username or profile link, the email or phone on the account, and a screenshot of the notice.
- We tell you honestly if we can help and what it costs. Price and any refund terms are agreed before we start.
- We prepare everything and handle the appeal through the platform’s official process.
- We keep you posted until there’s a result.
Who this is for
- US creators and small businesses who run sales or clients through Instagram.
- People hacked through a phishing link or a SIM swap.
- Anyone who already appealed once and got nowhere.
- Not for: accounts that were really used for scams or abuse.
Staying safe
Nobody needs your password or login codes to help you. Not us, not anyone. If someone in your DMs offers to fix it for you, asks you to log in through their link, or claims to have a special way in, walk away. Unbanz never asks for logins and doesn’t claim any special access. We use the same official routes that are open to you, we just know them well and do the legwork properly.
No passwords or login codes. We handle the process end to end; Meta makes the final decision.
