Temporary or permanent?
Read the message in the app first. It tells you which lock you have.
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Temporarily locked for a third-party app or plugin | A timed lock. The message or your email says when it ends. |
| Temporarily locked for another reason | Snapchat says to wait 48 hours, then log in again. |
| Permanently locked for breaking the Community Guidelines | You can't unlock it yourself. Your only official option is an in-app appeal, if one is offered. |
| Device banned | The phone itself is blocked, often alongside a permanent lock. |
Unlocking a temporary lock
Once the lock period is over, log in to the Snapchat Accounts Portal and tap Unlock. If the lock was for a third-party app, delete apps like tweaked Snapchat clients or plugins first and update Snapchat. Log in too early and you can end up locked again.
Appealing a permanent lock
Open Snapchat, try to log in and look for Appeal Decision on the pop-up. If it's there, tap it and explain clearly why the lock is wrong. If there's no button, Snapchat says that lock isn't eligible for an appeal.
Two things to know. You only get one appeal per lock, so make it count. And Snapchat says support tickets outside the app won't speed anything up.
If your device is banned
Snapchat can ban the device as well as the account. If your appeal is granted, the device ban goes too. Otherwise Snapchat generally won't lift it, even on a second-hand phone.
What not to do
- Don't make a new account to dodge the lock. Snapchat bans people whose accounts were terminated from opening new ones.
- Don't send your password to anyone. Snapchat staff never ask for it, and neither do we.
- Don't spam support. Extra tickets don't change the outcome.
Want us to handle it?
If the appeal button is gone or your one appeal was turned down, our Snapchat unban service takes it from there. Guaranteed. If we take it on, we get it done.
