Work out what happened
- Disabled or suspended: Instagram took action for a rule issue. You see a notice when you log in.
- Hacked: someone else changed your password, email or phone.
- Locked: a security check. You need to confirm it's you.
If it was disabled or suspended
Open the app, read the notice and use the option to disagree or request a review before the deadline. Read the full steps in Instagram account disabled and how to appeal a suspension.
If it was hacked
Check your email for a message from security@mail.instagram.com and use the link to reverse the change. If that doesn't work, go to instagram.com/hacked. Full steps: hacked Instagram account recovery.
If it was locked
Follow the prompts, confirm the code and reset your password. See Instagram account locked.
What to avoid
Don't pay anyone who DMs you offering a recovery, and never share your password or login codes. See recovery scams.
Want us to handle it?
If the official route stalls, our Instagram unban service gets it done. We never need your password.

Meta updates its help pages and flows often. Always follow the wording on your own notice and the current official Help Center. Unbanz is an independent service and is not affiliated with Meta, Instagram or Facebook.
